(Legends of the Moon Goddess)
Project Brief
This project consists of storyboarding, designing and animating a 30-60 second mini title sequence from a selected set of book blurbs that have yet to be made into features. As a visualiser, the task is to conceptualise the narrative and visual treatment based off of the blurb alone completely up to how this group of 2 interprets the contents. Storyboarding  provides conceptual options and shows how we plan our scenes ahead of time to determine the midpoints of our editing/designing/animating. Lighting, atmosphere, timing, music choice, designing and editing all contribute to how well the concept and visual style is communicated.

Project Deliverables
01 | 30-60 second title sequence. (16:9) (25/24fps)
02 | Comprehensive storyboard(s).
03 | Screen shots from your final animation, in storyboard
04 | Conceptual development.

Design Strategy
The blurb we chose primarily centered around the tale of the Moon Goddesses' Daughter. This story is based heavily in ancient Chinese Mythology, and through the use of Z space and depiction of Chinese mythological entities we aimed to visually portray the journey the protagonist goes through throughout the progression of this characters story. That story being one of exile, redemption, relationship and chaos. The story written by Sue Lynn Tan is one where the the protagonist, Xingyin, faces many trials involving many legendary creatures as well as enemies.
The Blurb
Growing up on the moon, Xingyin is accustomed to solitude, unaware that she is being hidden from the feared celestial emperor who exiled her mother for stealing his elixir of immortality. But when Xingyin's magic flares and her existence is discovered, she is forced to flee her home, leaving her mother behind. Alone, powerless and afraid, she makes her way to the celestial kingdom, a land of wonder and secrets. Disguising her identity, she seizes and opportunity to learn alongside the emperor's son, mastering archery and magic, even as passion flames between her and the prince. To save her mother, Xingyn embarks on a perilous quest, confronting legendary creatures and vicious enemies across the earth and skies. But when treachery looms and forbidden magic threatens the kingdom, she must challenge the ruthless celestial emperor for her dream-striking a dangerous bargain in which she is torn between losing all she loves or plunging the realm into chaos.
Daughter of the Moon Goddess begins and enchanting, romantic duology which weaves ancient chinese mythology into a sweeping adventure of immortals and magic-where love vies with honor, dreams are fraught with betrayal, and hope emerges triumphant.
